7th June
22 miles
Front Royal (969.7) to Bushcamp (991.7)
I was awake early to demolish breakfast and make a quick resupply. The town of Front Royal had a free shuttle to take hikers back to the trail, I took advantage of this and was hiking by 10am.
The last couple of days had good weather but as the afternoon progressed it started to become overcast, then the rain set in. It was a quiet day on trail. I only saw four hikers all day, they were all new to me. The scenery today was rather washed out by the weather so I put in my headphones and spent the day listening to audiobooks and podcasts.
Late in the afternoon the rain continued as I set up my tent next to a small stream. I lay in my tent writing this blog post listening to the ever louder sound of the rain as it gets heavier. It looks like it will be a wet and rainy night.

Your turtle picture is beautiful. Thanks for keeping us update, even when the weather is not too cooperative :-)
I’m sure there will be many more wet days before I’m finished
Stay dry. Love the turtle/tortoise pic.
There’s lots of Eastern Box Turtles on trail
